Agape’ vs. ‘Philadelphia’ Love

There Really More Than Two Different Words To Describe Each Of The Greek Words For Love, But One Word Each Such As Phileo’, {or Philadelphia’}, or Agapao’, {or Agape’}.  However, Because Of Where We Are, I Will Use Only Two Words Such As ‘Phileo Love’ or Agape Love’ To Clarify To Us In This Day And Time, That We Are Taking About Love; As The Other Words Are Literally Greek To Us.

We Start Off Walking In Phileo’ or Philadelphia’ Love, To Get To Agape or Agapao’ Love’, (1 Peter 1:22;2 Peter 1:7), And The Definition Of Phileo’ Love’, or ‘Kindred Love’ Is In A Nutshell, ‘Things In Common’. That Is Why Team Sports ALL Wear The Same Uniforms, (Even The Word ‘Uniform’ Conveys A Desired ‘Unity’).  Notice How Closely Pronounced Philadelphia’ Is To Our Word Philadelphia’ ~ The City Of ‘Kindred Love’.  That Is Because Philadelphia’ Is Transliterated From Philadelphia’ Which Is Defined As ‘Kindred Love’.  I Have Sisters And Brothers That I Care Much For, “But To Die To Self, “That’s Going To Take Yahweh’s Kind Of Love, (Ephesians 6:10).

*When We Look Up 1 Peter 1:22 or 2 Peter 1:7 In The Strong’s Concordance, We Will Find That The First Time Love Is Mentioned In These Verses, It Is Philadelphia’, {Click To Hear The pronunciation} or Translated Into English To Spell Out Philadelphia’, As We Know In America As, “The City Of Brotherly Love”, The Largest City In Pennsylvania; Located In The SouthEastern Part Of The State On The Delaware River.  A City Where Unity Among The Sisters And Brothers Existed To Such A Degree That In 1787 That The Constitutional Convention Was Held, Wherein Both The Declaration Of Independence And The Constitution Were Signed With Men In Harmony With One Another; Forever Changing History, And Making The United States Of America, And Setting Philadelphia As The Birthplace Of The Nation.

And The Last Love Mentioned In Both 1 Peter 1:22 And In 2 Peter 1:7 Is Agape {Click To Hear The pronunciation} Love or Agapao’ {Click To Hear The pronunciation} Love, Which Is The Kind Of Love That Yahoshua And Yahweh And The Holy Ghost Love Us With.  Agape Love Is An UnConditional Love.

Pertinent Side Note.  The Greek Was Translated From The Ancient Hebrew, (or Aramaic or Chaldean) Manuscripts, (http://www.hebrewnewtestament.com/).  So If You Really Want To Be More Precise Then We Could Look A Word In A Hebrew New Testament That Translates Into A Modern Language That You Can Read or If You Can Read Hebrew Go To That.  (Note To Those Who Use The Greek To Find Bible Code, You Need To Go The Hebrew New Testament).

I Say That Because You Can’t Really Find The Corresponding Hebrew Word That Was Translated Into Greek And Now Into Our Modern Languages.  However With The Word, Agapao’ / Agape You Might Not Find It’s Hebrew Equivalent, {You Might Find That It May Have Derived From The Hebrew Word Ahab, (Strong’s Concordance #05689), or May Closer Resemble ‘Checed’ With Is Often Translated ‘Loving-Kindness’, (Strong’s Concordance # 02616)}.  Yahoshua Basically Resurrected A Word That Was Not In Much Use Before His Time In The Greek Language.  It Is An UnConditional Love.

There Were Four Greek Words For Love, Eros’, (Erotic, Sexual Attraction); Never Made It Into Yahweh’s Word.  Storge or Storgeo On The Other Hand, Is Used Only Once In Yahweh’s Word At Romans 12:10, And It Basically Means ‘Family Love’.

According To The Holman Treasury Of Key Bible Words, The First Three Greek Words For Love, (Erao, Storgeo, & Phileo) Were Used Abundantly In Greek Writings, But The Fourth Word Agapao, (The Noun Form Is Agape), Was Rarely Used In Greek Literature Prior To The New Testament. The Word Agape Came Into Use Only After Yahoshua Started Using The Hebrew, (or Aramaic Word), That Translated Into The Greek Word Agape, Like When Yahoshua Asked Peter Three Times, Do You Love Me, (Twice As Agape And The Last Time Switching To Phileo).  Eros’ Was Used A Lot In The Greek Language, And Agape Was Use Seldom.  However; After Yahoshua Started Using The Word Agape Became Widespread Among Believers’ And Eros’ Is Not Even Mention In Yahweh’s Word~!

The Hebrew In The Old Testament Word Closest To The Greek Words Agapao’, (or Agape), Was The Word That We See Translated Most Commonly As, Loving-Kindness or, “dsx” In The Hebrew, And Transliterated Into English As Checed, {Click To Hear The pronunciation}.  King David Used This Word The Most, Especially When Describing Yahweh’s Mercy or Yahweh’s Goodness or Yahweh’s Favor or Merciful Kindness.  Here Is Just One Of Many Examples From Psalm 107:1

Psalm 107:1  O Give Thanks Unto Yahweh, For He Is Good: For His Mercy Endureth For Ever.

So, Yahoshua Brought About A New Kind Of Love.  A Love Without Conditions.

The First Two Times Yahoshua Asked Peter If He Agapao’, Him, (John 21:15-17), And Peter Couldn’t Quite Come Up To That Level At That Point In Time In His Life, So Finally Yahoshua Asked Peter If He Phileo’, {Click To Hear The pronunciation} Him.

However, This Probing Question Must Have Started Peter Thinking, And Like A Seed It Grew To The Point Where Peter Used Both Kinds Of Love In 1 Peter 1:22 And In 2 Peter 1:7, Where Peter Says That We Are To Go From Brotherly, (Philadelphía’) Love To Having Yahweh’s Kind Of Agape Love Towards One Another.

This Is The Same Agape, (Love), That Yahoshua Says That The World Will Know That We Are His Disciples, (John 13:34-35).  It’s A Kind Of Love That Cannot Be Counterfeited By Other Religions.

It’s A Distinctive Hallmark That Will Draw ALL To The Real Living Yahweh.   (John 12:32), Yahoshua Said, “And I, If I Be Lifted Up From The Earth, Will Draw ALL Men Unto Me”.  I Believe Yahoshua Did This By Now Duplicating Himself In Each One Of Us When He Died And Rose Again, And We Invite This Love Of Yahweh Into Our Hearts And It Pours Out Of Us Onto Others.

The Definition Of Agape Love Is Laying Down Your Life For One Another , And Laying Down Your Life Doesn’t Mean You Die Literally, But You Lay Down Your Agenda, And What You Want To Do, And Die To Self.

{I Must Mention That The Other Word That We Commonly Know As Love Is Not Love, And In Fact It’s Not Even In Yahweh’s Word, And That Word Is Eros; (Enter Here To Learn More About Eros)}.

Love Is Always Doing“

Compassion Is A Deep Yearning That Responds To The Needs Of People.  It’s Much Deeper Than Sympathy. Sympathy Can Just Sit Around Feeling Sorry For People.  Compassion Has To Do Something For Them.

Compassion Is What Motivates God, {Yahweh}, And Yahoshua’s, {Jesus’} Life On Earth Was A Picture Of That Compassion In Action.  His Whole Ministry Was Driven By It.  It Was Compassion That Caused Him To Multiply The Loaves And Fishes, Heal The Sick, Cast Out Demons And Raise The Dead.  It Was Compassion That Compelled Him To Go To The Cross.  And It’s That Same Compassion That He Now Longs To Pour Out Through You, {Copied From Compassion In Action}.  Yahoshua, {Jesus} Went Out, And He Saw A Great Multitude. He Had Compassion On Them, And Healed Their Sick. Matthew 14:14.

For Yahweh So Loved The World That He Gave, “(John 3:16)

But Yahweh Demonstrates His Own Love Toward Us, In That While We Were Still Sinners, Christ Died, (Romans 5:8)

In This The Love Of Yahweh Was Manifested, (Revealed) Toward Us, That Yahweh Has Sent, (1 John 4:9),
His Only Begotten Son Into The World, That We Might Live Through Him.

In This Is Love, Not That We Loved Yahweh, But That He Loved Us And Sent, “His Son To Be The Propitiation, (As The Atoning Sacrifice For Our Sins)”. Romans 3:25 & 1 John 4:10).

The Opposite Of Love Is Selfish Ambition, or Self-Focus, or Self-Seeking“

For Where Envy And Self-Seeking Exist, Confusion And Every Evil Thing Are There, (James 3:16).

Love ~ Not Selfish Ambition, {James 3:14-16}

Love Acts
“Selflessly, Sacrificially, Willingly, Completely, Passionately, Without Question, Honorably, With Deepest Commitment, UnConditionally.

Love Comes From Yahweh And Yahweh Is Love, (1 John 4:7-8), For, “LOVE NEVER FAILS”, (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)~!

When We Don’t Walk In Love, The Inverse Of This Is Strife, And We Stop ‘The Joy Of Yahweh’, (Which Is Our Strength), And We ‘Frustrate’, (To Nullify, To Make Void or Invalid, To ‘Short Circuit’), ‘The Grace Of Yahweh’, And A ‘Root Of Bitterness’ Springs Forth And Many Are Defiled, (Nehemiah 8:10; Galatians 2:21; Hebrews 12:15).  Strife Never Just Ends With Someone Getting The Best Of The Other Person.  When Someone Feels That They Are Hurt, (Real or Perceived), They Feel That They Have To Hurt Back; But, Since The Pain Is Still There; They Want To Cause Harm One Step More, (If You Can Relate, You Might Want To Enter Here To Buy, “Hurt People, Hurt People” By Sandra D.
